RE: a beeping we can't figure out where it's coming from

CO detectors are notorious for that problem. We had one that beeped randomly so we replaced the batteries and it made no difference. I replaced the detector with a better one with a numerical readout and the problem stopped plus I have a detector I have a lot more confidence in.

RE: Pullrite Super Rail Installation

I went to the local appliance store and got a large cardboard box and made a template out of it. Worked like a charm. Just measure, measure and them measure again. The helpful hints listed in the owners guide really are quite helpful; almost full proof in fact. Take your time and don't get in a hurry and it will work fine.

RE: Roswell, NM in November where to stay?

In my opinion the best place to stay in the Roswell area is about 70 miles west in Ruidoso. Might be getting a little chilly in November though.

RE: Sunnybrook Issues?

We bought a Sunnybrook/Moblie Scout three years ago and we are quite happy with it. Not perfect, but a good solid trailer that I think gave the most bang for the buck with the floor plan we wanted. One thing I would insist on if I were you; I would NOT take delivery on ANY trailer with the Chinese KENDA/Loadstar tires on it. Those babies are a born looking for a place to die. Lots and lots of failures. That large a trailer needs "G" rated QUALITY tires under it. I would echo the others in saying you really should consider a 1 ton dually. You can pull it with your current truck, but can you control it safely? My truck is a F-250 and the first thing I did after returning from the first trip was to install extra springs on the truck, which in effect makes it a F-350. I am a big believer that the truck and trailer should both be level going down the road. If the trailer nose is low or the trucks tail is low then the springs are too light. I don't know about dealer dicounts off of list price in todays market, but three years ago you should expect at least 25% off list. Happy trailering! Big T

RE: SUNNYBROOK 3420 BH Feedback

We have a three year old Sunnybrook 31BWFS and we are quite happy with it, except for the Karrier (Chinese) tires. No Failures on them but almost everyone I knew did have trouble so I swapped them out for "G" Rated Goodyears.

RE: What did yours cost ?

I had the second AC (penguin) installed on my 5er about six weeks ago and guts, feathers and all it was $1,100 and some change. My rig is 50 amp and pre-wired for the second AC and I thought the price was a big plenty. I don't think it would be that hard to install it myself but I am not about to try to man handle that puppy up on the roof by myself, so I just frowned and paid the bill. The only regret I have is that I didn't just go ahead and order it when I ordered the trailer. I certainly works like a charm. 100 degrees plus outside: 72 inside: NICE!!! Big T

RE: 5ver seems so big now that it's off the lot!

My rig is 13' and the rule is simple; If I see semi's on the road then its tall enough for me.

RE: Dehumidifiers?

We live in Texas where humidity is just part of life. We love our dehumidifier. I for one think that is the reason I haven't had allergy problems as bad this year as in years past. I thought I got a large one however, we sometimes have to empty it every other day. So that to me means we had a need for one. We do run the a/c all the time in fact this weekend it never shut off! You obviously live in a different part of Texas than I do. Last winter we purchased a whole house humidifier. On the high plains where I live it's quite common to see humidity readings in the 5% to 10% area in March and early April. We like to go to the Corpus Christi area in January and we go from 75%-90% and go home and its 5%. Quite a change. Sorry I can't give advice on a trailer humidifier; it's a completely foreign subject to me.

RE: Dumbest thing you've ever done while RVing with your Rig?

Hooked up to the fiver to take it to storage after a trip and forgot to raise one of the landing legs all the way up. A year later there is still a neat trench in the asphalt coming out the driveway for about 15 feet to remind me to not get in a hurry.

RE: Mor/ryde or Superglide problem

I too have the Mor/Ryde with a 16K (now rated at 18K) Pullrite with superail mounts. It does have some movement both starting and stoping and while driving, but it is very minimal. Since you have already set the Pullrite adjustment I would go futher and check everything else out. Make sure the frame mounting bolts are tight (with a Torque wrench) and make sure everything else is tight in the hitch as well as the pinbox. The trailer and truck should both be level when hitched. Not much else that I can think of that you can do. Hope you get it resolved. Big T

I believe you need to think about a career in writing. I like the way you think. Happy days RVing to you my friend.

RE: 55 mph National speed limit

This oil "crisis" has nothing to do with supply or demand. There's plenty of oil for sale. As a poster mentioned, there's a worldwide demand for oil, so we can save all we want and the price isn't going down. A poster mentioned the speculators and the weak dollar. This is the real issue as to why the cost of a gallon of gas has spiked so high. That, and the gas companies charge $4.399 for diesel because they can and I'll pay it to get to work and back every day. You are leaving out the major factor in the run up in price of gasoline, and especially diesel, and that is they enormous demand for fuel in the emerging economies of China and India. All those jobs we have sent overseas has caused exponenntial economic growth and that all means a tremendous thirst for oil.

RE: 55 mph National speed limit

I just returned from a legislative conference on electricity yesterday in our nations capital and got a brief visit (along with 25 others) with both of the congressmen from this area. One of them told the small crowd that we are sending approximately one billion a day overseas for crude oil. I have not done the reasearch and the math to validate his statement but I sure have no reason to doubt him. Both of the lawmakers were in favor of devloping our domestic production as well as conservation measures. Consevation alone will never solve the problem. One of the congressmen told the story of how France (pardon me) found out the hard way in WW 2 that all the enemy had to do was cut off the energy and they were brought to their knees immediatley. Now France (pardon me) supplies 80% of their own energy. We are going to be in (already in), a train wreck energy wise because of extreme environmentalism. Currently in China there are 150 coal fired power plants under construction and here there are 15 under construction because they are being blocked everywhere possible. In China there is no permitting and it takes 30 months to build one and here just the permit, if you can get it, averages 3 to 4 years with another 3 to 4 years for construction. Somewhere there has got to be level heads and a balanced approach to the problem, but I sure haven't seen it yet. Gives a fellow a headache just thinking about it. Makes me want to go camping and turn off the news.

RE: battery question

I recently replaced my original batteries with these Delco Deep cycle Marine & RV Batteries. Not sure what the rating is: I just went with a brand I trusted and the biggest battery that would fit the compartment. So far, So Good. And yes, they are sealed.

RE: Quality built RV at the right price

I pulled a 32' fifth wheel for about a year with a 6.0 gas GMC 3/4 ton. The first thing I did was add an additional leaf spring so it would pull level. The 6.0 was just barely adequate on flat ground; any kind of hills at all would make the motor just scream trying to pull the load. What you want to do is possible, but you won't go very far before you will start thinking "I need a bigger truck". That said, I wouldn't let the smaller truck stand in the way of getting out there with my family and having fun and making memories. You will turn around two or three times and those kids will be gone from home and you will wish you had spent more time with them. Go for it! Big T

RE: Calling all Superglide Owners........Need your input!

I have had the Pullrite for 2 1/2 years with no problems and would buy another in a heartbeat. As far as the price: The VERY ACCURATE old saying is: Buy the best and cry once (When you write the check) or buy a cheap one and cry every time you use it.

"In Case of Emergency" information card

We travel often with our Good Sams club and we are going to start asking everyone who travels to fill out an "In Case of Emergency" card to be carried by a couple of different people. On that card will be people who should be notified in case of an accident or other emergency if the affected persons cannot notify others themselves for what ever reason. We have heard a few stories lately of people involved in accidents and no one knew who to notify. Anybody have any suggestions about just what should be on the cards? Anybody else do the same type of info card? Thanks, Big T

RE: pullrite capture plate.

Our new (two years ago) Sunnybrook had a Mor/Ryde pinbox on it and there wasn't a Pullrite bolt on capture plate to be had without waiting for Mor/Ryde to build one, so I had the dealer weld the plate on. Last summer we attended a rally in Goshen, Indiana and Mor/Ryde had a booth. I bought a new Mor/Ryde plate without the capture plate on it for $80.00. I carry it in my rig just in case I get in a jam and someone else has to tow the trailer. Also I thought if I decide to trade trailers sometime in the future it will be a simple matter to change plates so anyone can pull it. Hope this helps. Big T

RE: SunnyBrook

I have a 2006 Sunnybrook/Mobile Scout (same trailer; just different decals) and I am very satisfied with it. It isn't perfect but it is a VERY good RV. JMHO
